Beating Writer’s Block Without Waiting for Inspiration
| Wesley McIntyre
Writer’s block is rarely about lacking ideas—it’s about fear.
Fear of writing badly. Fear of wasting time. Fear of discovering you’re not as good as you hoped. The solution isn’t inspiration—it’s momentum.
Set small, achievable goals. Write for ten minutes. Write one paragraph. Write something intentionally bad. Movement breaks paralysis.
Changing your environment can help too. A different room, a new notebook, even switching fonts can reset your brain. Constraints are powerful—try writing a scene without adjectives or dialogue.
The truth is this: inspiration follows action, not the other way around.
